Before heading over to the cayon, we stopped at Cafe Ruiz, a small coffee manufacturer that has a gift shop and a coffee bar.
Having just been through Mi Jardin Es Su Jardin, we were ready to relax over a good cup of coffee.
We headed out towards the canyon and stopped at a river crossing. A man started building a house right in the canyon, but had to stop because he was getting too old to finish it. Notice the unfinished spaces on the second floor; he lives on the first floor.
The canyon walls rise at least 1,000 feet above the river bed. |
|
A gorgeous view up river.
The canyon is the start point for the Sendero Los Quetzales - Quetzal Path. Next time I'm in Boquete, I'd like to take that hike and perhaps see a quetzal bird.
We stopped at another coffee manufacturing plant, Cafe Sitton, the largest coffee company in Panama.
Coffee beans drying in the parking lot in front of the plant. |
